Kindred Youth Baseball Registration
Summer

This site is for Kindred Youth Baseball ages 7-18.  If you are looking for information about Kindred T-Ball or girls softball please visit the Kindred Park Board at kindredparkboard.com.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE LEVEL OF PLAY FOR MY CHILD

Summer baseball is actually set up by age instead of what grade the player is in at school.  These ages are set by the state and national programs and are based on the player’s age on May 1st each year.  The administration and coaching staff reserves the right to deviate from these age specifications strictly based on numbers and need only.

You will enter your child's birth date during the registration process and the available registration level for the current season will be displayed on your screen.  A copy of the players birth certificates may be requested at any time.

KINDRED YOUTH BASEBALL PLAY LEVELS

Squirts: Age: (7 – 8)
This is a COACH PITCH level of baseball. Participants will be learning the fundamentals of the game such as the proper mechanics of throwing, catching, hitting, and base running. More importantly they will learn how to respect their teammates, coaches, and members of the opposing team.

Typically starts the Tuesday after Memorial Day - until approximately July 8

Practice/game schedule consists of 3 nights a week Monday-Thursday

Peewee: Age (9-10)
This is the first level where the players do the pitching and the games are officiated by an umpire. Participants will continue learning the fundamentals of the game such as the proper mechanics of throwing, catching, hitting, and base running. Most importantly they will continue to learn how to respect their teammates, coaches, members of the opposing team, and now the umpires.  This level uses 60-foot bases and the pitchers pitch from 46 feet 6 inches.

Typically starts with practices in early to mid-May and go until the league tournament in the middle of July.

Their practice/game schedule will consist of 4 nights a week throughout the summer with practices on Monday and Wednesday nights and games on Tuesday and Thursday nights. These may change a bit based on availability of facilities and weather rescheduling.

Rookie: Age (11-12)
This is the transition level where the players are getting ready to move up to the larger diamond sizes. Participants will continue developing the fundamentals of the game, but they will also begin to learn some of the more intricate strategies, and develop a deeper understanding of the game of baseball. They will also continue to grow their respect for the game of baseball and the coaches, umpires and fellow players they encounter while playing.  This level is in the process of changing to 70-foot bases and the pitchers pitch from 50 feet.

Typically start with practices in early to mid-May and go until the league tournament in the middle of July.

Their practice/game schedule will consist of 4 nights a week throughout the summer with practices on Monday and Wednesday nights and games on Tuesday and Thursday nights. These may change a bit based on availability of facilities and weather rescheduling.

13U Babe Ruth: Age (13)
We contract to send this age level to play in a league that is based out of Fargo. It allows our 13-year-old players to compete against teams made up of the same age. This is the level of baseball where all the rules of regulation baseball now apply to these ball players. Fundamentals will continue to be strongly stressed along with a high devotion to respecting the game of baseball and all involved in it. The players will learn more of the mental part of the game along with the many defensive situations and plays they will need to be able to perform as they encounter this higher level of baseball.

Typically start with practices in early to mid-May and go until the league tournament at the end of July.

13-year-old players move up to the larger diamond and transitions to 80-foot bases and the pitchers pitch from 54 feet.

Babe Ruth: Age (14-15)

Babe Ruth baseball is an advancing level of baseball. This means our Kindred Mid Cass League team will compete with an opportunity to advance onto a state tournament and a chance at winning a state championship.

Often we have enough players to form two Babe Ruth teams and we try very hard to not cut any players that want to play baseball. If numbers allow for a second team, we hold tryouts to see who starts out the summer on the Mid Cass team and which players form a second team and compete in a Fargo 15 and under League. Some players will move fluidly between the two teams, based on position need, injuries, performance, attitude and other criteria decided on by the coaches. All players from both teams will be evaluated throughout the summer for a chance to be selected on to the Mid Cass tournament team.

Both the Fargo League and Mid Cass League teams play on the regulation size diamond of 90-foot bases and the pitchers pitch from 60 feet 6 inches.

Legion: Age (16-19)

Legion baseball is an advancing level of baseball and the highest we offer in Kindred. The state of ND has three levels of Legion Baseball; Class AA, Class A, and Class B. The Kindred Post 117 Vikings play Class A and compete at a chance to make the East Region Tournament, the ND State Tournament, and the Central Plains National Regional Tournament. Our region consists of Wahpeton, Devils Lake, Grand Forks, 2 Fargo Post 2 Teams, 2 Fargo Post 400 teams, 2 West Fargo teams, Casselton, and Valley City.

Historically, we have had a large number of players at this level, but can only roster 18. We have had to make cuts in the past, which we do not like to do as we strive to make baseball available for all that want to play. If numbers allow for a second team, we will hold tryouts and enter a team at both the Class A and Class B level. Some players will be duel rostered per what state guidelines allow. All players from both teams will be evaluated throughout the summer.
